About us

Bletchley and Fenny Stratford falls under two local authority areas:

Although both have their respective websites, volunteer residents set up this one-stop-shop’ website to enable you to find information on activities and development projects across the whole area. You can find key events, information, consultation and volunteering opportunities which we hope will foster a greater sense of community cohesion for people living across the whole area.

About COBRA

COBRA was founded in 2008 to establish closer working relationships between the Bletchley Residents’ Associations and to address issues relevant to all residents from across the area.

COBRA is made up of representatives from each of the Resident Associations with the aim of:

  • Keeping each other informed about issues affecting individual communities and seeking help and advice from each other as needed.

  • Working with the town and parish councils in Bletchley & Fenny Stratford, the surrounding areas and with Milton Keynes City Council, to help improve community engagement and take action where necessary on residents’ behalf.

  • Building sound working relationships with key local people, based on mutual understanding and respect.

  • Keeping well informed of wider issues affecting Bletchley & Fenny Stratford and Milton Keynes at regional and national level.

  • Liaising with other Community Groups in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas and seeking opportunities for mutual action and support.

More recently, COBRA has been involved with major projects taking place across our area:

  • Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Deal – COBRA is represented on the Town Deal Board

  • Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council’s Neighbourhood Plan – COBRA is represented in the Plan’s Task Teams

  • Improvements to the Blue Lagoon – COBRA is represented via the Blue Lagoon Users group

Did you know..?

The Bombe machines used by codebreakers at Bletchley Park during the Second World War had an attachment fitting called a ‘cobra’ due to its many cables snaking between the two units.

We learned of this connection after choosing the name ‘COBRA’, but think it’s very fitting for what COBRA members do by connecting our community.

Find out more about the Cobra machine and Bletchley’s rich heritage in computing on the National Museum of Computing website (another gem based in Bletchley!).
